Obituary

Dwain Hogan, 71, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwinville, with Brother Ray Johnson, Brother Wayne McCrimmon and Brother Ed Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Mr. Hogan was born July 10, 1944, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Dave & Ora Williams Hogan. He lived in the community all of his life and graduated from Irwin County High School. Mr. Hogan loved to work the land to provide for his family. He was passionate about his family and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Mr. Hogan was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Polly Cleghorn Hogan of Irwinville; children and their spouses: Leigh Ann Thomas & Seth of Irwinville, Patrick Hogan & Julie of Irwinville and Holly Hogan Wright & John of Valdosta; five grandchildren: Reilly Thomas, Kyle Hogan, Kelli Hogan, Noah Wright and Hogan Wright; a brother, Don & Karen Hogan of Lineville, Alabama; and three sisters: Carolyn & James Roy Story of Sycamore, Patricia & Gene Barber of Nashville, and Vivian & Jimmy Ross of Irwin County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Perry, Larry, Pete and Billy Hogan and a sister: Dallas Newsome.
