John P. Tamagna of West Yarmouth and Naples,FL, and formerly of Malden passed away peacefully at home with his family and friends by his bedside after a long period of declining health on October 30, 2015. He was 80 years old.
John was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1953. He graduated from Boston College with a BA degree, and then got his M.Ed degree at Salem State college. John was a dedicated teacher in the Malden Public School system for many years. He loved to play golf with family and friends, but most of all John loved and cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was one who reached out to help friends and neighbors.
John was the devoted husband of Joanne (Rossetti) Tamagna. He was the son of the late Dominic and Anne (Silvestri) Tamagna. John was the beloved father of John P. Tamagna Jr. and his companion Patty Distefano of Haverhill, Jean Quigley and her husband Vincent of Chelmsford, and Judy Faulstich and her husband John of Malden. He was the brother of D. Michael Tamagna, Mary Ann Fitzpatrick and the late Josephine Kniften, Anthony and Victor Tamagna and Eleanor Fitzpatrick. John was the cherished grandfather of Sean and Steven Quigley and Jacklyn and Joseph Faulstich. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday November 3rd at 9:30a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10:30a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8p.m. Interment will be private. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the VNA Hospice Staff of Cape Cod for their compassion and dedication.
