Obituary

Laurence D. "Larry" Headle, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Kindred Hospital in Brighton following an extended illness. He was 81 years old.

Larry was born in Somerville on December 13, 1933, a son of the late Wayne C. Headle and Philomena M. (McAuliffe) Headle. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and the Boston Public School system. Larry enlisted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully and with pride. Larry was a special needs teacher and counselor for several years at the Robert White School in Boston. He also worked as a custodian for over 20 years at The Boston Garden. Larry's passion in life was spending time with his beloved wife and playing cards and cribbage.

Larry is the beloved husband of 60 years to Joan T. (Walsh) Headle. He is the devoted father of Kathleen Lent of Salem, Timothy Headle and his wife Diana of Lynn, Joan "Jodi" Baldwin and her husband Thomas of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and the late Laurence Headle, Steven Headle and Maura Goss. He is the loving Papa to 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of the late Donald Headle and Philomena Groom.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry's Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 3 to 7 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown.
