Obituary

WEIRS BEACH – Merle S. Dearborn, 93, of Weirs Beach, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born on February 19, 1922 in Laconia, the son of the late Fred and Leah (Smith) Dearborn. Merle served in the US Navy as a Seabee during World War II, being stationed in Hawaii and Japan. He worked for several years as a Tool and Die maker for such companies as Scott & Williams, Franklin Brush and Vernitron. He was an accomplished carpenter and woodworker. Merle was a member of the Wilkins-Smith American Legion Post 1 in Laconia as well as the Weirs United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons; Dennis Dearborn and his wife Virginia and Roger Dearborn, one daughter, Susan St. Gelais and her husband David, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Veda Dearborn in 1994.

There will be no calling hours.


A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the family plot at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
