Callie Mae Mills Weeks, age 88, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the Yalosbusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She would have been 89 on October 29th. Born in Central Academy, MS, Callie Mae Mills grew up in the Orwood community in Panola County. She graduated from Courtland High School and worked in advertising in Memphis, TN, until she married Jesse Glyn Weeks of Water Valley, MS, on June 5, 1946, at the Desoto County, MS, courthouse. Mr. Weeks was a lifetime employee of the Tennessee Valley Authority and the couple made their homes in Oak Ridge, Chattanooga, and Kingston, TN, Paducah, KY, and Florence, AL. In the mid-1990’s, they returned to Water Valley, MS. A member of First Baptist Church, Kay Weeks, as friends and family knew her, was a Red Hatter and member of the Town & Country Garden Club. She loved family dearly and enjoyed growing plants and flowers and home decorating.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 AM on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Allen McGraw of First United Methodist Church and Dr. Randy Bain of First Baptist Church officiating. A brief graveside service will follow at noon in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Kay is survived by her sons, Dr. Barry (Charmie) Weeks, of Water Valley, MS, and Tim (Teresa) Weeks, of Nashville, TN, and two grandchildren: Angela Suzanne Weeks, of Carbondale, CO, and Matt (Leighanne) Weeks, of Mandeville, LA.
Mrs. Weeks was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Glynn Weeks; her parents, Felix and Lela Mae McKee Mills; and nine brothers and sisters: Cuebell Tidwell, Elmer Mills, Ethel Dugard, Francis Childs, Clyde Locke, Webster Mills, Noel Mills, Don Mills, and Marion Carr.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, First Baptist Church of Water Valley, First United Methodist Church of Water Valley, or other local charity of choice.
