BEVERLY: Eda M. (Cristofori) Bolla, 93, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at her home following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francisco P. “Frank” Bolla who died in February 2003.
Born in Beverly on October 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Tassinari) Cristofori. She was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1938 and was a lifelong resident of Beverly.
Eda was employed as a secretary at North Shore Community College for nine years before her retirement in 1983. She was also once a secretary at Beverly Hospital and for Lester O. Sterling Insurance Co. in Beverly for many years.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, where she was active in the Ladies Sodality. She was also a member of the Beverly Senior Citizens Club and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employee’s Association and loved volunteering at Beverly Hospital for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Bolla Larkin and her husband, William Larkin of Beverly and Joanne Herwig and her husband, Kenneth Herwig of Danvers; two sons, Joseph Bolla and his wife, Ann Marie (Fiore) Bolla of Beverly and Frank P. Bolla, Jr. and his wife, Linda (Eckmann) Bolla of Groveland; six grandchildren, Jill and James Herwig, Andrea, Christopher, and Justin Bolla and Joey Bolla; her dear friend, Alice Carrarini and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Iole Cristofori and Dena DiVencenzo and a brother, Alfred Cristofori.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Mary Star of the Sea Church Collaborative Offices, 552 Cabot St., Beverly or Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
