Kenneth Leroy Ashby, 95, of Anderson, passed away October 23, 2015 at Countryside Manor due to a longtime illness.
He was born on May 19, 1920 in Anderson, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Gustin) Ashby, and graduated from Anderson High School in 1938.
He was employed as a typesetter at Anderson Herald Bulletin as a young man, and worked at many local printing places. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and bowling and won many awards in Indiana and Michigan for his bowling skills. He resided in Rogers City Michigan for 20 years, where he worked at a daily newspaper and was on the local school board. He was a member of South Meridian Church of God.
He is survived by his three children, Lois Carpenter of Anderson, James (Sara) Ashby of Indianapolis, and Jack (Candy) Ashby of Naples, FL, 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Jane Gray of Anderson,
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Ashby, grandson, Jeff Rodgers, son-in-law, Bill Carpenter, and sisters, Dorothy Skinner and Bessie Van Erman.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11 AM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to South Meridian Church of God or the charity of the donor's choice.
