Mildred D. Griffith of Weston passed away on Wednesday, October 14th after fighting a courageous battle with an extremely aggressive metastic cancer. She was 74 years of age. Born in Boston MA she was the daughter of the late William J. Griffith and the late Mildred D Griffith. Known to her friends as "Millie" she attended the University of Miami where she studied dress design.
After college Millie traveled throughout Europe. It was there that she developed a love of antiques, more specifically a fondness for antique jewelry. This led her to search out yard sales, flea markets, church bizarres, estate sales, etc. and eventually became a dealer selling many of her great acquisitions. She befriended many of the people she met at all these venues. She and her long time pre-deceased partner Eric Erikson in her quest for her "jewels" spent much of their time together exploring the nooks and crannies of the great coast of Maine to find those hidden treasures.
She was an avid reader; she loved to do crossword puzzles and play to WIN at Scrabble. She loved spending holidays with family.
She was an awesome sister and caring friend to all that knew her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sister, Diane Stoffel of Brewster, MA and her sister Elaine Kula and her husband Donald of Nashua, NH, one niece, three nephews, Peggy MacPhail Gorgone, Millie's childhood friend and Nina O’Brien daughter of Eric Erikson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston, on Friday, Oct. 30th at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will follow at Dell Park Cemetery in Natick.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
