Mr. Steven M. Fernandes, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 21 in the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Cipriano) Fernandes. He was born 67 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Anthony and Marion (Perry) Fernandes. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Steven was employed by several area hardware firms, including Loew’s, Home Depot and Benny’s. He was previously employed as a printer at both the Paul A. Dever and Wrentham State Schools for 30 years. He was a Cub Scout Master and a Boy Scout Leader at the former St. Joseph’s Church in Taunton. He enjoyed fishing, photography, was an avid New England Patriots fan, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Connor. He was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 daughter: Trisha Fernandes of Taunton; 2 sons: Steven M. Fernandes, II and Christopher Fernandes, both of Taunton; 2 brothers: Arthur Fernandes and his wife, Kathy of Colorado, and Anthony “Chico” Fernandes and his companion, Mary Sauder of Taunton; 4 sisters: Sandra Offley of Taunton, Sr. Joanna Fernandes of Rome, Italy, Susan Fernandes of W. Bridgewater, and Shirley Guillemette of Berkley; 1 grandson: Connor Boyd of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews. Steven was also the brother of the late Richard Fernandes, Carol Jean Davidson, Alyce Fernandes and Margaret Evans.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, October 26 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 TO 7:00 P.M.
