Jewel Alexander (Alex) Fillingim
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Mr. Jewel Alexander (Alex) Fillingim, 85, loving husband to Joyce L. Fillingim.
Alex was born in Liberty county, Florida and at 11 years of age moved to Kingsland, Georgia. He has resided in Augusta since 1960. He served in the United States Navy and retired from the paper industry.
He was a quiet, gentle man who enjoyed his family. His hobbies were golf, woodworking and running.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Julie F. O’Connor and husband Matt of Appling; grandsons: William Walker Bishop of Augusta and Harrison Rayle O’Connor of Appling; and sister: Jackie Hannaford and husband J.O. of Folkston, Georgia.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence following the service.
