Hanson – Dana B. “Chief” Larsen, 70, a long time resident of Hanson, died Wednesday October 21st after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Beard) Larsen.
Born in Boston and raised in Braintree, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Doris R. (Robinson) Larsen and a graduate of Braintree High. Dana furthered his education earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University.
Prior to his retirement, Dana had worked over 30 years in the Civil Service field and later he had worked for 15 years as self-employed plumber.
He was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served over 28 years in the Naval Reserves and being called to active duty during the Gulf War. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
He had been a resident of Hanson for over 45 years, where he and his wife Barbara had raised their two children. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop # 34 and had been a longtime member and past Master of the Wampatuck Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife Barbara he is survived by his loving children David Larsen and his wife Danielle of Pace, Florida and Elizabeth Taylor and her husband Michael of Quincy and his brother Peter Larsen of East Bridgewater. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored, John, Katie, Anna, William, Benjamin and James as well as his niece Kathryn Larsen of Braintree, his nephew Brad Larsen of Portland, OR and other nieces.
His services will be held Monday October 26 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Sunday October 25 from 2:00-6:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 4:00 PM and a American Legion Service at 5:00PM
