Leonardo (Leo or Larry) Z. Lara of Oxnard, California passed away in his sleep on October 19th, 2015 after two year battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. He was born in Cavite City in the Philippines in 1937. He met his wife Sonja while serving with the US Navy in Norway. They had 48 wonderful years of marriage and two children, David and Sandra. He is survived by his wife Sonja, daughter Sandra and granddaughter Ruby.
Leo retired from the Navy after 20 years and then went back for 28 more working as a civil servant for the Navy at Point Mugu. Leo loved gardening and was an excellent cook. He could often be found at the local dog park with his two pups Champ and Bosley. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home located at 757 E. Main St., in Ventura, CA at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4th. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
