Obituary

George Loring Inglis, who loved to travel, made his final journey at age 97 to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2015.
George lived in Whitman for 70 years, but grew up and graduated in nearby Rockland. He was the son of the late George Kennedy Inglis and Norma W. (Loring) Inglis. George proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945 during WWII. He was a third-degree mason for 39 years, belonging to the Puritan Lodge in East Bridgewater.
Over the years George held a variety of jobs, but was best known as the head shade cutter at the Factory Paint Store in South Weymouth. He greatly enjoyed interacting with people wherever he went. George was an avid lover of railroad and trolley car history and, until his death, was a member of the Boston Street Railway Association. He was also a collector of old time radio shows and memorabilia, belonging for many years to the Radio Collectors of America club held in Quincy.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Mildred N. (Chaney) Inglis of Whitman, his sister Marjorie (Inglis) Pearson and her husband Carl Pearson of Brockton, two nephews, Paul Pearson of Middleboro, and Carl Eric Pearson of Brockton, and two sisters-in-law Emma F. Chaney and Hazel M. Chaney both of Whitman.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Ivan Inglis and his wife Marilyn of Middleboro; his two children, David M. Inglis and his wife Karen of Whitman, and Marianne (Inglis) Rudis and her husband Steven of Chesapeake, Virginia; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Inglis) Mahoney and her husband Mark of Whitman, Joel B. Inglis of Somerville, and Daniel T. Rudis of Chesapeake, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Ashley (Mahoney) Foley and her husband Thomas of Whitman, Brandon S. Inglis of Somerville, and Dustin J. Inglis of Somerville; one great-great grandchild, Tommy Foley of Whitman; as well as many nieces and nephews that “Uncle Bud” genuinely loved.
Visiting hours will be held at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Whitman on Thursday from 5-8pm and a funeral service will be held at All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Whitman on Friday morning at 10am. Interment will follow at Colebrook Cemetery in Whitman.
