TAUNTON - Manuel Faria Jr., 89 of Taunton died peacefully with his family by his side on October 18, 2015 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
A communicant of St. Anthony’s, Manny was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Lesperance) Faria to whom he was married for fifty-eight years.
He was also predeceased by his brothers: Frank (infant), Joseph, Daniel and George; a great-granddaughter, Jaiden Clark.
Manny leaves behind his brother Richard and his wife, Marianne, Berkley; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Faria, Taunton and Shirley Lesperance, Attleboro.
Manny also leaves behind his five children and their spouses: Debbie and Robert Beech, East Taunton; Nancy and Terrence Neville, Berkley; Gayle and Gregory Clark, Whitman; Sally and Brian Mansfield, Taunton; and Scott and Susan Faria, Berkley;
14 grandchildren: Karriann Clark, Amanda Swisher, Leandra Kelly, Gabriel Clark, Kyle Neville, Jordan Clark, Devin Fagan, Zachary Clark, Senior Airman Samuel Clark (Serving in the U.S. Air Force in Europe), Alyssa Beech, Amber Clark, Matthew Faria, Luke Mansfield, Megan Faria.
Six great-grandchildren: Alahna and Karis Clark, Ruby and Ivy Kelly, Raiden and Rowen Fagan.
Several cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Born and raised in Berkley, Manny was the son of the late Manuel and Virginia (Ferris) Faria.
A 1944 graduate of Dighton High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Howitzer Gunner with the 780th Field Artillery Battalion and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Employed by the former Haskon Co. for over 30 years, Manny was a SEIU union officer.
A member of the DAV and the VFW, Manny enjoyed working in his garden, spending time with his family and watching the N.E. sports teams, especially the Red Sox.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Oct. 23rd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m.
