Edna Yancey Arthur, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Pruitt Health Ashburn in Ashburn, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Arthur was born November 3, 1924, in Covington, Georgia, to the late Jeff David and Donnie Wynn Yancey. She moved to the community in 1942 from Ocilla and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Arthur was a housewife and a member of the former Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son: Emory & Jeanie Arthur of Umatilla, Florida; grandchildren: Robert Blum, Jennifer Hall, Scott & Amanda Blum, Jason & Amy Blum and James Gills, all of Fitzgerald, Gary Gills of Ashburn, Amy Gills of Warner Robins, Zach Gilbert and Ashley Gilbert both of Umatilla, Florida, and a son-in-law: Pete Gills of Ashburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Theo Emery Arthur; a daughter: Delores Gills; six brothers: Hubert Yancey, Earnest Yancey, Edgar Yancey, Louis Yancey, Sam Yancey and J. D. Yancey; three sisters: Viola Saunders, Mary Griffin and Hazel Coan.
