BEVERLY: Linda Mae Woodbury, 55, died on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of Scott B. Woodbury. They were childhood sweethearts and recently celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary on October 14th.
Born in Chelsea on January 9, 1960, she was the daughter of Arlyne (Pillsbury) and the late John Cassidy. Linda was a Beverly High School alumna and Valedictorian for the class of 1978. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of New Mexico in 2000 graduating Summa Cum Laude. Linda worked as a Geriatric Nurse at Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly for many years and most recently for Life Care Center of the North Shore in Lynn. She was a dedicated nurse who firmly believed in the healing power of human touch. Foremost she believed compassion was the number one rule of ethics for treating patients. Compassion was a constant in her life. If there was anyone who needed a warm plate of food or a warm heart to listen, Linda could be counted on.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing arts & crafts, ceramics, professional cake decorating and was a wine connoisseur. As a young girl her favorite pastime was harness racing in Maine with her grandfather. Above all she was a fantastic cook, especially when it came to her spaghetti sauce.
In addition to her husband of thirty-seven years, she is survived by her children, Sharlyne Woodbury, Scott L.J. Woodbury and his wife, Lyndsey, both of the United States Air Force, Matthew Woodbury and Kathlyne Woodbury; siblings, Colleen Walke and her husband, John, John L. Kelley, III and Leanne Cassidy; grandson, Leo Scott Woodbury; mother-in-law, Sandra Woodbury; three sister-in-laws, Cindy Boraizia and her husband, Stephen, Cheri Taliento and her husband, Mark and Candace Woodbury; three brother-in-laws, Brian Cargile, Jack Woodbury and his wife, Lois and Wayne Woodbury and many nieces and nephews. Linda is predeceased by her sister, Kelly Vida; father-in-law, John Woodbury and her sister-in-law, Karen Cargile
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 23, 2015 in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery on Brimbal Avenue in Beverly. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to her favorite local charity, where 100% of proceeds benefit patients and survivors of cancer.
