Marjorie B. (Wright) (Swanson) Delaney, age 96, of Brockton, passed away October 18, 2015. Marge was a lifelong resident of Brockton and a 1937 graduate of High School. She was the widow of John Swanson, who died during World War II when his ship was sunk off the coast of Iceland. She was also the widow of Joseph T. Delaney to whom she was married for 51 years. Marge and Joe enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland which they visited many times. Over the years Marge was employed at Thompson Shoe, the old Brockton Public Market on Main St., the Center Theater and finally retired from Bettridge Auto Parts after working as a bookkeeper for 32 years.
Marge was also the mother of the late Tim Delaney who was a well known and loved teacher at the Kennedy Elementary School in Brockton. She is survived by her daughter in law Phyllis; three grandsons Kevin, Michael and his wife Zina and Mark; a great granddaughter Ava Rose Delaney; a niece Charlene Kacqur of Williamsburg, VA; sister-in-law Geraldine Riordan of Brockton and many other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Virginia Jacobsen and Frances Bezanson and sister-in-law of the late Hazel Sabina, Theresa Barris, Mary Silva, Ella Yutzus, Patricia Barris, Rose McGlone, Dorothy Delaney and William Delaney.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday from 9 to 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church at 10:30am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
