Edward Fontanella, 93, of Medway, died Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Stanley R. Tippett Home in Needham. He was the husband of Evelyn (Rice) Fontanella who died in 2005.
Born in Medway on January 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Amalia (Cercena) Fontanella.
Mr. Fontanella proudly served in the Army during WWII.
He raised his family in Holliston and moved back to Medway after retiring from the Post Office.
Mr. Fontanella was an avid hunter, dedicated coin collector and enjoyed farming.
He is survived by his daughter Lynn Fairbanks Fontanella of Holliston and his son Glenn Fontanella of Medway and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by six siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, October 22 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Medway at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
