Lois A. (Gilchrest) Lavigne, 75, of S. Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Edwin B. and Lena A. (Briggs) Gilchrest, she had been a lifelong resident of S. Dartmouth. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a sales clerk for JC Penney in Dartmouth for 20 years. She was an avid fan of both the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies Women’s basketball team. She enjoyed photography and gardening.
Survivors include her son: Henry E. Lavigne of New Bedford; her daughter: Michelle E. Lavigne and her spouse Marcia A. Vlaun of CT; 1 sister: Wendy J. Gilchrest of S. Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Frederick and Frank Gilchrest and Edwin Gilchrest, Jr.
Memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790.
Service will be private.
