Jean F. Tilden of Weymouth, age 65, passed away on October 17th, 2015 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jean was the beloved wife of 46 years to David M. Tilden and loving mother of Darlene Tilden of Weymouth, Brenda Lawson and her husband Joe of Weymouth, and Denise Ray and her husband Greg of Weymouth.
Jean is survived by her sister and best friend Nancie Knox, and her husband John of Pembroke, Richard Webb of Pembroke, David Webb, and his wife Linda of Attleboro, and sister-in-law to Phil Tilden and his wife Mariellen of Charlotte, NC. Jean is also survived by five grandchildren that were the light of her life, Brooke DeCoste, Alyse Ray, Sydney Ray, Katera Lawson and Joey Lawson Jr. Jean is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Jean, a Pediatric Nurse to medically fragile children, graduated from Weymouth High School in 1967, received her LPN from Quincy Vocational College School of Nursing in 1980 and received her RN. B.S.N from Curry College in 2000. She was also a Reiki Master and Angel Card Reader.
Jean was happiest when surrounded by her family and when giving to others. She co-founded New Baby Bundles, Inc., with her sister Nancie Knox and others to provide resources to homeless mothers and their new born infants living in shelters. Jean was also active with Birthday Wishes, a charity that grants birthday parties to children living in homeless shelters. She was one of the original members of Project L.U.C.K (Love, Understanding, Communication, and Knowledge) which was the first ever student exchange with Russia and the Weymouth Public Schools. She was an active member of the Sons of Italy, Hingham and the Weymouth Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie 2899.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa (Marley) Webb, mother in law Dorothy (Grandma Dot) Tilden, and an infant daughter Diane Tilden.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visiting hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday, October 21 from 4-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 22 at 11 AM.
