TAUNTON – Ester P. Dias, wife of the late Jose Dias, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Oct. 17, 2015.
She was 89.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Virginio C. and Maria A. (Pimental) Janeiro.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, Mrs. Dias moved to the area in 1981.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, making clothes, cooking and crocheting.
Known for her good sense of humor, Mrs. Dias loved spending time with her family and helping to care for her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Jose Dias of Taunton; 6 daughters, Flavia and Fatima Dias, both of St. Michael, Azores, Trindade Safaneta of Lisbon, Portugal, Lucia Tavares of N. Dighton, and Francelina Andrade and Helena Jacques, both of Taunton; a brother Urbano Pimental of St. Michael; a sister, Maria Correia of Canada; many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Fernando P. Dias.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Oct. 21st at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 20th from 5 to 8 p.m.
