Obituary

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Anna M. Vadnais, 92, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and a former resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, October 5, 2015. She passed into Eternal life at Willow Manor Assisted Living in Dania Beach, Florida surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on July 17, 1923, a beloved daughter of George and Eva (Ouellette) Vadnais. She was raised in Springfield and attended local schools. In 1943, Anna professed her vows as a Sister of the Holy Cross and served as an educator for over 35 years in several different locations in the United States and Canada. In 1995, Anna began another life commitment as a volunteer with children with significant disabilities. It was through this vocation that she met her godson, Ryan Lester, who she cared for up until the time of her passing. She leaves her loving sister, Jacqueline M. Dailey of Cumberland, RI; her two loving sisters-in-law, Audree M. Vadnais of Chicopee and Dorothy Vadnais of Ludlow; her cherished godson, Ryan Lester of Broward Children’s Center in Pompano Beach, FL; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Vadnais and Ouellette families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her three loving brothers, George H. Vadnais and his wife, Dafrose, Alfred E. Vadnais and Richard D. Vadnais; and her four loving sisters, Sister Lucille Vadnais, CSC, Rita V. Devine and her husband, Wallace, Helen V. Landry and Alice V. Poirier. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday morning, October 24, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home), which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Development Fund, 377 Island Pond Road, Manchester, NH 03109.
