Obituary

Gerry P. Hagarty, 74, of Prosser, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2015 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
Gerry was born to Lawrence and Donna Jean (Leinweber) Hagarty on May 13, 1941 in Frankfort, Kansas. The family moved to Prosser in 1944 where he was raised, educated and a member of the high school boxing team. He graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1959. Gerry and his wife, Jane, were high school sweethearts and were married in Prosser on January 30, 1959. The couple raised four daughters, Lori, Debbie, Shannon and Teresa.
Gerry studied certified public accounting at Kinman Business School in Spokane. After becoming an insurance agent and broker, he returned to the Yakima Valley and in, 1979, built the family home in Prosser where many family memories were made. He purchased Central Washington Realty and Insurance in Prosser in 1980, which he and his wife, Jane operated together until selling the business and retiring in 2008, after which they moved into town.
Gerry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and longtime Rotarian. He loved gardening, birdwatching, reading and traveling, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Gerry is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Jane of Prosser; his daughters, Lori (Rick “Jay”) Vallone of Graham; Debbie Augustavo of Prosser, Shannon (Henry) Gill of Puyallup and Teresa (Jim) Early of Prosser; his grandchildren, Ben (Laura) Vallone, Scott (Sara) Vallone, Lauren Augustavo, Dustin (Heather) Hall, Brittany (Chris Aden) Hall and Madalyn, Victoria and Alexander Early; and his great-grandchildren, Max, Julia and Vinnie Vallone, Brielle Vallone, Nathan and Nolen Hall and Paislee and Cason Aden. He is also survived by his sisters, Colleen Fairchild and Donna Heintz and his brother, Mike (Gayle) Hagarty all of Prosser; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Andrew Early.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30, Monday, October 19th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Prosser Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the home of Jim and Teresa Early. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital Andrew Early Guild Endowment (4800 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105).
