Norman F. Tremblay, 77 of Newburyport and a former resident of Salem, passed away at the NSMC / Salem Hospital on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Linda M. (Higgins) Tremblay with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past September.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Lucien G. and Lucienne E. (Dion) Tremblay. Norman was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn and attended Northeastern University in Boston. In his earlier years he worked in his family’s the former Tremblay’s Market in Salem. He later worked as a supervisor for BOMAC later to become Varian Associates of Beverly until he left in 1993. His most recent employment, and his favorite, was driving for Woodbridge Assisted Living in Peabody.
Norm was an avid sports fan especially with the youth sporting programs. He was one of the original organizers of the Salem Youth Soccer Team and supported all the youth activities. He was also an active member of the AARP. Norman and Linda moved to Newburyport from Salem eleven years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael T. Tremblay of Newton, NH, Scott A. Tremblay of Newburyport, a daughter, Laureen M. Ryan and her husband Kevin of Peabody, five grandchildren, Tasha Dalessandro and husband Jason, Shannon McCahill and husband Conor, Jason Ryan, Derek Tremblay and wife Tessa, Jonathan Tremblay and fiancée Alex. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Gavin, Jubilee and Andre, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor Tremblay.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem on Monday, October 19, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be private and there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
