Victoria Campo Hatch passed away peacefully, at the age of 96, on October 8, 2015 in Winchester, MA. “Vivi” was born on October 10, 1918, in Stafford Springs, CT to James Campo and Anacleta Maggia Campo. She is survived by her two children, Holly Hatch of Somerville, MA, and James Hatch and his spouse, Pat Jennings, of Bristol, ME, and two grandchildren, Jennie and Sylas Hatch. She is predeceased by her sister, Arima Campo, her ex-husband, John Hatch, and her beloved parents.
Vivi and her family lived for many years in Hagerstown, MD, where she was active as a homemaker, Girl Scout leader, and proof reader at the local newspaper. She returned to her home town in 1972 where she was active in the First United Methodist Church in Stafford, CT. She was an environmentalist and promoted human rights concerns in the church. Proud of her Italian heritage, she organized tours to Forno di Zoldo, the town where her father was born, and helped with the research of the Zoldani in this country.
She was a life-long lover of the sea, and spent summers with her sister and father at a cottage in Silver Beach on Cape Cod, MA where she was also active in the Falmouth 300 land trust committee.
A memorial service for Victoria Campo Hatch is planned for November 14, 2015 at the First Methodist Church of Stafford Springs CT on 8 Church St. at 11: 00 a.m., followed by internment at Stafford Cemetery and a collation at the church. A memorial celebration is also planned at Youville House atrium, 1573 Cambridge St, Cambridge, MA on November 15 from 2:00 -3:30 p.m. for friends and family.
