Maria M. (Conceição) Ferreira, age 90, passed away on Tues., Oct. 13, 2015 at Wingate of Hampden. She was born on Sept. 23, 1925 in Guarda, Portugal. Maria worked for F.W. Sickles for many years before she retired. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. Maria enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Horacio Ferreira and also by her son Mario Ferreira. She leaves her son Acacio Ferreira and Mary Jane Strycharz of Ludlow; 2 grandchildren, Bryan McCarthy and his wife Lisa and Cynthia Hernandez and her husband Carlos and 4 beloved great grandchildren, Bryanna, Adalynn, Alexander and Brendan. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Helena Ferreira of Chicopee. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wingate of Hampden for the exceptional care they gave to Maria in her final days. Calling hours will be held on Fri., Oct. 16, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee. A funeral service will be held on Sat., Oct 17th at 9 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Liturgy at 10 am in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church.
