John B. Turchyn age 77 of Canton passed away October 12th at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Krakow, Poland, he fled the country during the German and Soviet Invasion during WW II and arrived in the United States after 3 long years of travel. He was raised in Jamaica Plain, graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and mass Bay Community College. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He has lived in Canton for the last 46 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #252 in Norwood and was an animal lover and big supporter of the MSPCA. John spoke 5 languages and enjoyed travelling throughout the world and spending time with his family. Because his early struggles in Poland, John was most proud of being an American Citizen and being a veteran of the United States Army. Beloved father of Marylou DiCalogero and her husband Robert of Canton. Proud grandfather of Robert, Anthony and Joseph DiCalogero of Canton. Brother of Irene Stober of Maine. Also survived by his longtime companion and friend Elizabeth Osborne of Franklin. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 4-8 pm.
