John T. “Johnny” Berry, 53, of Manchester died suddenly on October 10, 2015 after a tragic motorcycle accident earlier in the week.
He was born in Kittery, Maine on December 7, 1961, the son of George and Judith (Stevens) Berry. Johnny was educated in Manchester and attended UNH at Manchester after graduating from high school. He studied German and Gaelic languages and loved learning new things about Irish history. During his career, he was a carpenter with the Carpenters Union 118.
Johnny had a passion for Harley’s. He also enjoyed the ocean, fishing, gardening, bow hunting and spending time with his grandson. He had a love for animals and was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. Johnny had just begun his journey as a Freemason, member of the Washington Lodge No. 61, in Manchester, as well as a “Cigar Aficionado”. He was very giving to others and had spent time in Rwanda, on three separate missions in 13 months, providing clean water, food and supplies to those in need. Johnny was described as the most outgoing and generous person many had ever met. Above all, he will be remembered for his infectious smile, as a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, grandson, companion, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Family members include his parents, George Berry and wife Kathy of CA; mother Judith Berry of NH; daughter Samantha Berry and fiancé Adam Felipe of Dover; grandson Carter Felipe of Dover; two sisters, Becky Berry and spouse Michelle Fisher of MO; and Leigh Berry-McCurdy of MO; two brothers, Michael Berry and companion Charlotte Turner of Rochester, and Doug Berry and wife Kathy of IA; grandmother Frances Stevens of Rochester; his long time companion, Charlene Harris of Candia; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Johnny was predeceased by his grandfather Ernie Stevens "Bumpa" and his nephew Jason Berry.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Manchester Christian Church, 1308 Wellington Rd, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Johnny’s name to: Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
