Mary R. (Bell) (Sargo) Canty age 85 of Lakeville formerly of Brockton, died Saturday Oct. 10, 2015 at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William Sargo and Joseph Canty. Mary was born in Hanson and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Armand Strangis, Sr. and Rose (Coit) Strangis. She had lived most of her life in Brockton before moving to Lakeville to make her home with her daughter.
Mary was a stay at home mom who was devoted to her home and family. She especially enjoyed time spent with her great grandchildren. In her free time, Mary loved crocheting, oil painting, cooking, baking and traveling.
Mary is survived by a son William “Bill” Sargo and his wife Christina of Lakeville, a daughter Brenda Boileau and her husband Joseph of Lakeville and a niece and nephew she raised Rose (Carchia) Piche of Easton and Antonio Carchia of Inverness, FL. Mary also leaves six grandchildren Angel Costa, Peter Burr, Ashley Cabral, Kimberly Puente, Jessica Brogan and Joseph Sargo, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ivy Bell, Beatrice (Bell) Fisher, Armand Strangis, Jr., Pearl Strangis and John Strangis
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 5-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:15am for a Funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 10:30 am. Burial in St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
