Arthur A. Anderson, Sr. age 88, of Mansfield passed peacefully at home, in the presence of his loving family, on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Coralie A. (McGlashing) Anderson to whom he was wed for 62 years at the time of her death on March 7, 2014
Born in Foxboro, MA on June 1, 1927, he was a loving son of the late Arthur E. and Jennie R. (Taber) Anderson.
Arthur grew up and was educated in Foxboro. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 52 years, and prior to retiring had been employed for 42 years at the Foxboro Co.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, and along with his late wife had helped prepare the monthly senior luncheons for many years.
Arthur was the true definition of what it meant to be a true outdoorsman. Besides his family, his favorite passion in life was saltwater fishing and when younger was an avid hunter.
When younger, Mr. Anderson was a professional duckpin bowler and inducted into the Duckpin Bowlers Hall of Fame. He was a holder of 23 world records; some which to this day have never been broken.
A “jack of all trades”, Arthur enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and making homemade maple syrup and wine. He and Coralie loved camping, traveling by way of motor home, wintering in Florida and had visited every state in the country.
He is survived by his devoted children, Arthur A. Anderson, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Mansfield and Patricia A. Larkin and her husband Ronald of Foxboro. He was the dear brother of Lloyd “Ken” Anderson and Carolyn Schulz both of Mansfield, and the late Rebecca Schulz and Robert Anderson. He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Guthenberg, Kaysee Larkin, Dr. Todd Anderson, Brian Anderson, Jason Anderson, Paul Gaudreau and Ian Gaudreau. He is also survived by his cherished 12 great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, October 16th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Arthur’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the First Baptist Church, 52 North Main St, Mansfield, MA 02048.
