Obituary

Ovsanna Harpootian-Veitch, 90, of Taunton, Massachusetts passed peacefully on October 11, 2015 after a brief illness.

Ohie was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and lived in East Providence as a teenager where she was a graduate of East Providence High School and of Katherine Gibbs School. After graduation, Ohie entered the United States Foreign Service and enjoyed a long and distinguished career at ten posts throughout the world; culminating in her position as United States Consul General in Florence, Italy until her retirement in 1979. She was inducted into the East Providence High School Hall of Fame in recognition of her accomplishments in the United States Department of State.

Ohie was the widow of the late Lawrence Veitch. She was the daughter of the late John and Vartanoosh Harpootian, the sister of Jacob Harpootian, the late Edward Harpootian, and Rosalie Harpootian, the aunt of John and Alysia Harpootian and Heidi Grubb, and the great aunt of Mark and Eric Harpootian.

Donations in Ohie’s memory may be made to The Armenia Tree Project, 65 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02472-9992. Funeral arrangements are through the Taunton Funeral Home. Burial at the Bourne National Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
