E.WAKEFIELD, NH: Gordon D. “Gordie” Levasseur, 73, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine. He was the beloved husband of Lori (Bethune) Levasseur.
Born in Salem, MA on March 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Paul and Lillie (Bernson) Levasseur. He had resided in Beverly for many years before moving to East Wakefield seven years ago.
Gordie was a sheet metal mechanic by trade and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 17. He loved working on automobiles and enjoyed lending a helping hand to others with their home projects. He was also a Past-President of the Franco-American Club of Beverly.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Jim Levasseur and his wife, Lisa of Beverly, and Bill Levasseur and his wife, Andrea of Byfield, his daughter, Susan Resende of Beverly; two step-daughters, Staci Palmer of Beverly, and Keri Palmer of Wakefield, NH. He was the son-in-law of Betty Bethune of Naples FL; brother of Allan Levasseur and his wife, Barbara of Chester, NH, Sharon Clarke of Salem NH, and Karen Davis and her husband, John of Danvers; brother-in-law of Louise Casey of Beverly and brother of the late George Casey; brother-in-law of Larry and Yudi Bethune of Beverly, Robert and Brenda Bethune of Belle, MO and Lynne Bethune of Beverly. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Trevor Levasseur of Haverhill, Brad Levasseur of West Newbury, Holly Levasseur of Byfield, Patrick Riley of Sherborn, Larissa Levasseur and Madison Cook of Beverly, Abbie and Reece Pender of Beverly and Kaylee Palmer of Wakefield NH; great-grandfather of Savannah Riley of Sherborn and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
