Obituary

HOLLIS- Richard Thomas Ramsdell, 58, went home to be with his Lord on Oct. 10, 2015.
Rick was born on Dec. 20, 1956 at the Buxton-Hollis Hospital and was brought home Christmas morning with his parents- William and Roberta Harris Ramsdell.
Rick attended Hollis Elementary School, the former Hollis High School and SD Hanson School in Buxton. Rick was in the first graduating class of the new Bonny Eagle High School in 1975.
Shortly after graduating and four days before going to serve in the US Air Force, Rick was involved in a car accident that left him non-verbal and a paraplegic due to a head injury.
Rick attended the Hollis Center Baptist Church and was involved with many church activities including the Word of Life program in New York where he played basketball. On his 13th birthday, Rick and his Uncle Tom went to NY to get his Basset Hound dog Tina. Rick tried to teach Tina how to hunt rabbits, which Tina would have no part in.
Rick played Little League, Babe Ruth, was in the Boy Scouts, enjoyed hunting and fishing, eating red hot dogs & pizza and riding his motorcycle.
After being in the hospital for many months, he went home with his Mom and Dad. His life was not easy, but cribbage was his #1 survival activity. He also enjoyed bowling using his right foot to direct the bowling balls.
He was at the door daily at River Ridge, watching for his Mom and Dad to play cribbage, also to go “home” to have red hot dogs.
He missed the many years of not being able to participate with his sister Deb and brother Steve.
Rick loved to see little children and being “Uncle Rick” to his three nieces, nephew, and his three great nephews.
Besides his Mom and Dad, he is survived by his sister Deborah Blake and her husband Don; his brother Stephen Ramsdell and his wife Sherry; nieces- Sabrina, Nichole, and Tabitha; nephew- Matthew; three great nephews; step nephew Chris Blake; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
