Obituary

Patricia J. (Michaud) Gorton, 78 of Salem, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Robert Gorton.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Alice (Tache’) Michaud. She was a graduate of the Class of 1954 at Salem High School. At the age of 18, in 1955, Pat married Norman R. Louf and together devoted their lives to raising their ever-growing family. Widowed at a young age, she later married widower James Galvin, and following his death, she adopted his children. Years later, Pat married widower Bob Gorton and they were together until his passing.

Pat was a life-long resident of Salem, proud of her family, city and a Memere to all. She was always on the go. Her life was centered around her family, friends and Salem. She attended all athletic, academic and live performances. With her very active social life her family, faith, parish, and volunteering for the Salem Senior Center were her priorities. She was recently recognized for her countless hours of volunteerism at the Senior Center.

Pat is survived by six sons, Robert Louf & his wife Joanna, Peter Louf & his wife Christine, Mark Louf & his wife Kelly, Kevin Louf and his fiancee, Rachael all of Salem, James Galvin of Daytona Beach, FL, William Galvin & his wife Denise of Haverhill, and six daughters, Denise Freeman & her husband Daniel of Hudson, NH, Lisa Cavallaro & her husband Richard, Cheryl Coleman, Laurie Doherty & her husband Michael, Mary Anne Louf-Woods & her husband Willie Woods all of Salem, Elizabeth Galvin & her husband Gerry Boggio of Lawrence. She also leaves her brother, Peter Michaud & his wife Donna of Salem, 18 grandchildren, Adam, Amanda, Melissa, Rufus, Bianca, Molly, Justin, Mikey, Peter, Sabrina, Jared, Hannah, Katelyn, Kyle, Jocelyn, Katie, Michael, Jakob, Ben, and great-grandchildren, James, Justin, and Liam, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friend Loretta. Pat was predeceased by her sister Marilyn Parker and grand daughter, Patricia.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Wednesday, October 14, at Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at Ste. Anne’s Church will be on Tuesday, October 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Shore Cancer WALK, c/o North Shore Medical Center, 81 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
