Robert M. Freitag
Retired Converse Rubber Foreman

TEWKSBURY: Robert M. Freitag, age 71, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, passed away at home, with his family by his side, on Friday, October 9, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of Irene G. (Treadwell) Freitag, with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2015.
Born in Lynn on August 22, 1944, he was the son of the late Philip C. Freitag and the late Helen C. (Macomber) Freitag.
Bob was raised in the greater Lynn area and Tewksbury. He attended Tewksbury schools and the Essex Agricultural School in Danvers.
In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Bob served during the Vietnam War as an Air Force Police Officer and was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for his active duty service.
Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed by the Converse Rubber Company as a Production Foreman at its Andover facility.
He enjoyed coaching for the Tewksbury Youth Baseball Program and loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s baseball games.
Bob was a former volunteer at the Vision House in Tewksbury and at the Tewksbury Hospital.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michelle Cogan and her husband Joe of Merrimack, NH, Robert Freitag and his partner Michael of Nashua, NH, Wayne Freitag and his wife Vicki of Tewksbury, Brian Freitag and his wife Liz of Hudson, NH, and Alan Freitag and his wife Susan of Crossville, TN; grandchildren, Patrick and Timothy Cogan, Ashley, Erik, Colton, Brooke, and Rylie Freitag, and Sara Vincent; his great grandson, Brayden Freitag; siblings, Philip “Skip” Freitag of Crossville, TN, Bill Freitag of Rowley, MA and Debbie Williams of Pompano Beach, FL. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial visitation on Monday, Oct. 12, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. At his request there are No Funeral Services.
