Obituary

Worcester- Robert G. Elbe Sr., 91, passed away on Thursday October 8, at Knollwood Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on March 16, 1924, in Worcester, a son of the late Frank W. and Ellen E. (Nordgren) Elbe. He was raised in the town of Northboro where he attended local schools and in 1942 graduated from Northboro High School. Bob would go on to proudly serve his country as a soldier in the United States Army serving a tour in the Philippines during World War II.

Following his discharge from the military he went to work for Salmon son’s Dairy in Worcester. There he would spend the next twenty five years working as a supervisor before eventually retiring

Bob was a longtime, active member of Bethlehem Covenant Church in Worcester, serving on many boards and committees.

Bob was a member of the Freemasons organization, Olive Branch Lodge. He enjoyed photography and the games of golf and baseball. A “ball shagger”, “Captain Bob” as his friends at Juniper Hills Country Club referred to him, could often be found on the golf course pond, in his boat searching for lost golf balls.

Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.

He leaves his wife of 69 years, Esther M. (Fegreus) Elbe; his children, Robert G. Elbe Jr., and his wife Kimberlee of Worcester, Susan M. Strozina and Paul of Auburn; his brother Stanley N. Elbe and wife Theresa; 6 Granddaughters, Jennifer J. Zoulias, Amy E. Berg, Colleen R. Hickey, Sarah E. Strozina, Julia R. Elbe and Sophia G. Elbe; 5 great granddaughters, Kasey L. Remington, Hannah I. Zoulias, Ella E. Berg, Annika G. Berg, Esther J. Hickey.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, October 14 at 11 AM at the Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood St., Worcester. Burial will be private. There will be no calling Hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood St., Worc. MA 01607 or Summit Elder Care, Grafton St., Worcester, MA.

The Elbe family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Knollwood Nursing Center and Summit Elder Care, for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Bob during a difficult time.
