Dorothy Marie Webster, 94, longtime Tieton resident, passed away on October 5, 2015 at Summitview Health Care Center.
Dorothy was born on February 5, 1921 in Yakima to Clove and Margie Barber. She was raised in Schoolcraft, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan College. She went to work for the U.S. Government as a comptroller during World War II, as part of an effort to cut wartime profiteering. She married Lawrence Webster and the couple made their home in Tieton in 1952 where they raised their family. Dorothy worked at the Wapato Irrigation Project for many years until retiring. She moved from Tieton to Yakima in 1992.
Dorothy was a longtime member and Deacon of the Tieton Presbyterian Church and a member of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah’s, and the Tieton Grange. She was an avid cook and enjoyed crafting.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Barber of Sisters, OR; her sister, Verna Terry of Aloha, OR; sons, Alan and Tom Webster of Yakima; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Barber; sister, Vera Crawford; husband, Lawrence Webster; daughter, Barbara Webster; and son, Sidney Webster.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1; 00 P.M. on Saturday, October 17TH at the Tieton Presbyterian Church (740 Franklin Road). Memorial contributions may be made to the Tieton Presbyterian Church.
