Elizabeth Thurston, 88

Elizabeth (Riddle) Thurston, age 88, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Life Care Center of Raynham.
She was the beloved wife of the late Sydney W. Thurston who died on October 10, 1989.
Born in Newton, MA, she was a loving daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Davis) Riddle.
Elizabeth had bee employed for many years by Fairfield Optical in Mansfield and Kilburn Glass in Norton. In her retirement years she was a dedicated volunteer at Sturdy memorial Hospital in Attleboro and a member of the Norton Council on Aging.
Betty was a talented seamstress, enjoying sewing, and also crocheting and other crafts. She and her late husband Sydney enjoyed traveling to England, Ireland and Hawaii.
A resident of Norton for over 40 years, she was an active member of the Chartley United Methodist Church.
Above all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother enjoying time with her family most of all.
She will be sorely missed by her devoted children Arthur S. Thurston and his wife Christine of East Bridgewater and Barbara Precourt of Forney, Texas. She was the cherished grandmother of James Precourt of Forney, Texas, Michelle and Jared Precourt of Milford, Joshua Precourt of New Hampshire, Kara Thurston of Mansfield, the late Jessica Thurston and adoring great grandmother to six great grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Ruth Gold of Palm Bay, Florida and the late Charles, James, Alice, and Harry Riddle and Dorothy Fisher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, October 12th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Monday morning beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
