Longacre, Suzanne E. (Patterson), a 55 year resident of Wellesley Hills, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct 7, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband James E. Longacre in 1994 and they were married for 49 years.
Suzanne is survived by her four loving children Stacey O’Neil, and husband Michael of Pittsfield, MA; Karen Longacre, and husband Frederick Nemecek of Atlantic Beach, FL; James Longacre Jr and wife Debra of Windham, NH.; and Devon Haines and husband Frederick of Mansfield, MA. She enjoyed her time with her eight wonderful grandchildren: Kevin Longacre, Charles Nemecek, Michael O’Neil, James Longacre III, Jenna Haines, Keri Longacre, Ellen O’Neil, and Jamie Haines. She also leaves many dear friends and neighbors in addition to her long-time loving friend and caregiver, Tanachee Babbitt and special thanks to Dr. Aran Kadar of Newton, MA.
Suzanne was a retired Teacher and Department Head in the Needham School system. After her retirement she ran Adult Education in Needham for 10 years, retiring for the second time at 75 years old. Suzanne was honored by her selection of Teacher of the Year in MA.
Suzanne graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree in Education 1948. She continued her education and had credits approaching a Doctorate.
She and her husband were avid travelers globally and extensively in Europe and Asia. She had a longtime love of sailing, Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod. She held memberships to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Ballet, and the Wellesley Garden Club.
A Celebration of Suzanne’s Life will be held at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (RT16) Wellesley, MA, Saturday October 10, 2015 from 4pm to 6pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. James and Suzanne will rest together at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
