Obituary

SALEM - George H. Audet, 85, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, North Carolina.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Alphonse Sr. and Adrienne Audet and was a graduate of Salem High School.

A Korean War Veteran, Mr. Audet served in the US Naval Reserve.

Mr. Audet, together with his father, established and operated Audet Painting Contracting in Salem for many years. Prior to his retirement in the late 1990's, he was employed in the City of Salem School Department.

George enjoyed gardening and horseshoes, creating hand carvings in wood and playing cribbage. He was a member of social and service clubs including the Klondike Club. He was a lifelong resident of Salem until moving to North Carolina in the late 1990'S where he and his wife Diana Audet resided.

George was married to Dorothy Hubisz, and is survived by their five loving daughters: Barbara Linn of FL; Susan Lynch of PA; G. Constance Audet of NH; Patricia Walker of Salem; Diane Tanzer (Yoder) of FL, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister Therese Gaudette of Worcester, a brother Louis Audet of AZ, many nieces and nephews and a step-daughter Amy L. Romero of NC. He was the brother of the late Alphonse Audet, Jr. and Paul Richard Audet.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10 AM at the St. John the Baptist Church, St. Peter St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. There are no other local services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
