Obituary

William E. Decoteau, age 92, passed away on Oct. 3, 2015 at the Renaissance Manor in Holyoke. He was born on April 6, 1923 in Springfield. He was a son of the late William J. and Eva (Laberge) Decoteau. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. William worked as a firefighter for the Springfield Fire Department for many years before he retired. He also worked for local florists and enjoyed collecting stamps. He was a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church. He is predeceased by his wife Constance T. (Cardinal) Decoteau, who passed away in 2011. He leaves 2 sons, William E. Decoteau Jr. and his wife Rita of Springfield and James Decoteau and his wife Laurie of Springfield; his daughter Christine Lalli, whom he lived with in Springfield; 2 brothers, Robert Decoteau of Ocala, FL and Richard Decoteau and his wife Bernie of Palm Harbor, FL; his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Wieczorek of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren, Christopher, Dawn, Joel, Melissa, Andrew and Christian. He also leaves his beloved great grandchildren, Gabriel, Mila, David, Ashton, Nikolas, Brendan and Kiera. He is predeceased by his brother Walter Decoteau, his sister Dorothy Warren, his granddaughter Amanda, his son-in-law Nate Lalli, and his half brother, William F. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. in the Grise Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Mary Mother of Hope Church at 11 a.m. Burial to follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516, Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Boston Children’s Hosptial Trust 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
