Obituary

NATICK: Aguida (Viernes) Galiguis, 100 years of age, died peacefully and in comfort on October 2, 2015 following a period of declining health.
She was born on April 20, 1915 in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines the daughter of the late Tirso Viernes and Veronica (Galutera) Viernes.
Aguida is survived by her devoted and loving children; Rosalina Marinas and her husband Rudy of the Philippines; Rosario “Chit” Abriam and her husband Bert of Natick; Francisco E. Galiguis, Jr. of Ashland; Linda V. Galiguis of Framingham; Romeo Galiguis and his wife Ida of Jamaica Plain and the late Eduardo Galiguis. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Francisco Galiguis, Sr. She was the last of her siblings who predeceased her and they were Jacinto, Bernardino, Nicholas, Albert, Belen, Dallie, Maximino, and Tiburcio.
Aguida spent most of her life in the Philippines and came to the United States in 1971. For many years, she resided in the Cochituate Village Apartments in Wayland where she met many friends. While living on the Phillipines, she received her formal education and graduated from high school. She was a Beauty Pageant Queen in the Philippines in her earlier years. She loved to sew, cook and spend time gardening. She dedicated her life to her family who was the most important aspect of her whole being and loved all the time spent with them. Aguida reached the milestone of her 100th birthday in April of this years and celebrated with her family and friends.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street (corner of Rte 27 and Damon St), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Galiguis family lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
