TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Marcella Marie (Meehan) Walsh, 91, formerly of Somerville passed away Saturday October 3rd Saints Medical Center surrounded by family.
Marcella was born April 23, 1924 in Point LaHaye, Newfoundland , Canada a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Cahill) Meehan. Loving wife to the late James J. Walsh Sr who passed in 1975.
Marcella worked as a custodian at Harvard University up until her retirement. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Spending time with her family was most important to Marcella. She loved a landscaped yard and was an avid gardener.
Marcella was a member of St William’s Church in Tewksbury.
Marcella’s family would like to thank the staff at the Blaire House for their caring and professionalism and also that Marcella will miss the great friends she made at Blaire House.
She is survived by three children, Elaine Walls and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, Elizabeth “Betty” Loan and her husband Paul of Methuen, a son, James J. Walsh Jr. and his wife Faith of Lowell; a sister, Lucy Patricia Hatfield of San Diego, Ca.; seven grandchildren, Courtney Imbriglio and her husband Andrew of Wilmington, Alyssa Walls of Newton, Michael Walls of Tewksbury, Rachel Loan of Methuen, Christopher Loan of Methuen, Stephanie Walsh of Quincy, and Jeffrey Walsh of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews.
Marcella was predeceased by her siblings, Martin Meehan, Leona Malloy, Stella St Croix, and Joseph Meehan.
Walsh - Visiting hours are Wednesday, October 7th , 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey St and 975 Main St (Rt38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone(800 in MA or 978) 851-2950. Her Funeral will begin Thursday, October 8th at 9:00am from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St William’s Church 1351 Main St. Tewksbury.
