Grace M. Donaghey died Saturday after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was 86. Grace was the beloved wife of the late John E. Donaghey and together they shared 49 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2005. A graduate of Woburn High School, Grace was born in Winchester and raised on Montvale Ave in East Woburn and lived there with her family before moving to Stoneham. She loved spending time at her "camp" on Lake Winnisquam in NH with her husband Jack and their extended family, where she loved to watch her children and grandchildren play in the summer and where she would snowmobile with her friends in the winter. A devoted mother and friend to many, Grace was a faithful member of St. Patrick`s Church of Stoneham. She was an inspiration to many as she lovingly, bravely and quietly cared for her husband during his extended battle with Alzheimer`s.
Grace is survived by her devoted children; Patrice Minton and her husband Stephen of Andover, Ellen Donaghey and her spouse Giulia Norton of Jamaica Plain, John Donaghey and his wife Cathy of Winchester. She was the loving grandmother of John and Elizabeth Minton, Conor, Owen and Holly Donaghey. Sister of Ann White of Andover, the late John H. McDonald, Jerome P. McDonald, and William P. McDonald. Sister-in-law of Mary McDonald of Wilmington. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Thursday, October 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Grace's memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
