Obituary

David A. Doherty, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 60 years old.

David was born in Boston on September 22, 1955, a son of the late Thomas Doherty and Margaret (Hutchins) Jones. He grew up in Jamaica Plain where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. David worked several jobs as a mechanic before joining the International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 4 where has been a proud member for the last 18 years. He was a member of The Aleppo Shriners and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed flying in World War II replica airplanes, skydiving, scuba diving, horseback riding, spending time at his home in Athol, but most importantly in his life was his family and the quality time he spent with each one of his grandchildren.

David is the devoted father of Maryellen Doherty and her husband Christian Ciliberti, Melissa Curran and her husband Stephen, Tony Doherty and Joelle Rash, Deseree Doherty and Matt Copithorne and Scott Doherty and Lisa DeSimone. He is the loving Grampy to Alyssa, Devin, Casey, Tyler, Katie, Cayd, Luca and Nico. He is the beloved brother of Thomas "Mickey" Doherty and Patricia Duvallee. He is the former husband of Lisa (Bonitatibus) Doherty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's visiting hours on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2 to 6 P.M. with his Funeral Service beginning @ 5:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private.
