WORCESTER-Loretta M. “Lottie” (O'Connor) Mason, 101, of 9 Asbury Road died Monday, May 23rd at home. Her husband, Ronald A. Mason died in 1946. She leaves a nephew, Richard D. O’Connor of Old Lyme, CT, a niece, Maribeth (O’Connor) wife of Francis Gentile of Philadelphia, PA, many grand nephews, grand nieces and cousins. A brother, John D. and his wife, Evelyn A. (Noonan) O’Connor and a sister, Mary J. O’Connor predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Richard D. O’Connor born in Abbeyfeale, Ireland and Mary (McCarthy) Mason born in Kilarney, Ireland. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Mason worked as a supervisor for New England Telephone & Telegraph Company for over 30 years, retiring in the mid 1960’s. In her retirement she worked in the admissions department of Fairlawn Hospital for many years until 1986. She was actively involved with the Catholic Church all her life. Mrs. Mason was originally a member of St. Peter’s Church and its Ladies Sodality and most recently Christ the King Church. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneer’s of America.
The funeral is Thursday, May 26th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 25th from 7:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
