Sandra Kay Putt Ullrich, proud Navy veteran, wife, and mother, passed away in San Diego, California on September 30th at the age of 72 from pulmonary fibrosis.
Sandy was born to Mary Helen and Walter Daniel Putt, Jr. in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 22, 1942. She grew up in southern California and lived much of her life here. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1960 she joined the Navy and served for 3 years as a Wave. She left the Navy to be a wife to John Oscar Ullrich whom she married on August 10, 1963 and a mother to Patrick John and Anneliese Kay Ullrich. After her children began school, she went back to work. Sandy worked for the Civil Service, first at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland and later at Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station. She retired in 1994 and moved to Spokane, Washington for four years to be near family. She returned to Oxnard in 1998 and soon began working for the District Attorney's Office of Ventura County. She retired from there in 2012.
Sandy enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, road trips, history, going out to breakfast, and anything having to do with the Navy. She lived with her daughter for many years, and they were best friends.
She was preceded by her parents and her sister, Pamela Ann Putt Plasencia Noble. She is survived by her sister, Geralda Lee Putt Ryane; children, Pat and Anneliese; daughter-in-law Rhonda; grandsons, Joshua and Shelby; her niece, Cassandra Diane Friesen; her nephew David Wayne Putt; and her ex-husband John. We'll miss her tremendously and look forward to the day that we'll see her again in Heaven.
