Alice Mae (Shannon) Tingley, 79, of Medway, died September 29 in Leonard Morse Hospital, Natick following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Frederick A. Tingley for 55 years prior to his death in 2012.
Born in Milford, October 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Martin and Lillian (Balcom) Shannon, Mrs. Tingley was a lifelong Medway resident.
She was a 1953 graduate of Medway High School.
Mrs. Tingley had been a swing manager at the McDonald’s restaurant on Route 140 in Milford for over 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Medway Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary and had been an active member of the Medway Senior Center. She was also a Poll Worker for Elections in the town.
Alice had been a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church in Medway.
She had enjoyed trips to the casinos, bingo and trips with her late husband to Florida and North Conway and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her children, Medway Police Chief Allen M. Tingley and his wife Charlene of Medway, Paul Tingley of Franklin, Timothy Tingley of Medway and Mark Tingley of Medway. She is also survived by her brother Robert Shannon of Milford and was the sister of the late Richard Shannon.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Staples of Medway and brother –in-law Robert Tingley of Woburn.
She is also the grandmother of Nichole, Bryon, Susan, Rebecca, Billy, Kyle and Hannah and great grandmother of Madison, Molly, Ava, Michael, Lilliana, Mia and Zoey.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5 in Christ Episcopal Church at 11:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
