Fredrick James Anderson of Canton, MA, formerly of La Salle, IL and Victorville, CA, died peacefully in the comfort of his home Monday, September 21, 2015.
He was born in Lucerne Valley, CA to Hazlett and Ortrud (Ankenbrock) Anderson in 1937. He married Catherine Deedy in 1962. His children who now appreciate the finer points of English grammar he instilled in them fondly remember him.
A graduate of Reed College, he was a research chemist who served as a respected science fair judge and occasional substitute teacher for math and chemistry in Illinois for many years.
His interests and passions included Scouting (he was a Scoutmaster and both his sons are Eagle Scouts), camping, hiking, painting, photography, gardening, skiing, wood collecting, and woodworking.
He was the loving husband of Catherine E. Anderson; proud father of Bruce W. Anderson of Millbury, MA, Jean O. Anderson of Chicago, IL, and John H. Anderson of Pepperell, MA; caring grandfather of Elizabeth, Meredith, Emma, Michael, Kathryn, and Deidre; and youngest brother of Eugene H. Anderson, Elizabeth J. Callaway, and the late John V. Anderson, all from the High Desert in southern CA. Private funeral services will be held in MA and CA.
