Juanita (Lopes) Figueroa, 84, of New Bedford died September 27, 2015 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Odilo "LeLo" Figueroa.
Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Antone M. and Mecaela (Rosario) Lopes, she lived in Dartmouth and New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Figueroa was formerly employed as a stitcher at Cove Manufacturing and later as a housekeeper at St. Luke's Hospital until her retirement.
She enjoyed painting, gardening, crocheting, stitching, craft woodworking and music.
Survivors include her husband; 2 daughters, Donna Brooks of New Bedford and Gloria Sears and her companion Tyrone Clanton of Cranston, RI; 6 stepchildren, April Lopes of Minnesota, Valorie Figeuroa of Raynham, Joey Figueroa of Wareham, Lynn Figueroa of South Carolina, Cookie Figueroa of Maine and Benjamin Figueroa of Wareham; 2 brothers, Antone Lopes, Jr. of Baltimore, MD and Joaquim Lopes of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Mary Mendes of Dartmouth and Hilda Correia of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gertrude Nunes, Rose Mendes, Manuel Lopes, Frank Lopes, Mary DeLuz Rozario and Joseph Lopes and the mother-in-law of the late Ramon Brooks, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford with a prayer service at 7 PM.
